I cannot tell you how excited and honored I am to post these pictures. For months now Andrew (my husband) and I have been praying for this family. Mom and Dad are friends of ours from church. (and side note, Gregg is a killer keyboard player!) We've been following closely the story of their adoption of these two precious girls and are just thrilled beyond belief to have had the chance to welcome them home.
I am tearing up as I write this, but there is incredible amount of honor in getting to take their first 'family pictures.' I hope it will be the first of many. We love you guys and are so incredibly happy for you all!
in closing - I want to leave you with the lyrics from a Sara Groves song that just really speaks to me as a mom and also reminds me of this new family - as I've heard Gregg and Rene' talk about their girls the lyrics of this have several times come to mind...

'You Cannot Lose My Love - Sara Groves'
You will lose your baby teeth.
At times, you'll lose your faith in me.
You will lose a lot of things,
But you cannot lose my love.
You may lose your appetite,
Your guiding sense of wrong and right.
You may lose your will to fight,
But you cannot lose my love.
You will lose your confidence.
In times of trial, your common sense.
You may lose your innocence,
But you cannot lose my love.
Many things can be misplaced;
Your very memories be erased.
No matter what the time or space,
You cannot lose my love.
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose my love.
(ps- it makes me cry but it's beautiful - you can check it out
on itunes if you'd like to hear the melody - it's quite beautiful.)

I can't wait to see more...sisters...twins??
By the way, I rented the 24-70 2.8 that you recommended to me to try out on my two family shoots that I did this past weekend. I LOVE it! I think my wonderful hubby is getting it for me as an early Christmas present! YEAH! :)
Seriously, you are awesome! Thanks so much for all of your tips and words of encouragement!
Blessings,
Kara H
Hey! I know those girls! Seriously though, Emily, thank you so much! I am looking forward to seeing our pictures. I know my girls are too.
Kara: Yep, those are our girls. We are in the process of adopting them. They are twins sisters, 9 years old.
Gregg: They are beautiful! I pray the process will be quick and smooth for you guys!
Emily: Thanks for the comments! I only wish I had rented that lens for the shoot with my Grandparents! (http://gregandkarahicks.blogspot.com/2008/11/60-years-gma-gpa-kellmer.html)
Oh well, I will still cherish them no matter what lens they were with. :)
Thanks again, you are the best!
All of the pictures melted my heart...very precious! :)
what a beautiful family! I can't get over how much they look like they belong together. Just amazing!
Wow, Emily, you have outdone yourself again. Why people use JC Penny and other "commercial photo" options I will never figure out. You are amazing. Thank you so much for all the prayers and support along the way, and thank you so much for this amazing gift.
These girls are the answers to Rene and my prayers, and because God brought them to us, we do belong together. It's totally a God thing that not only do they have red hair, but they actually look like our children. It really helps with making this transition smoother for them, and for us.
I just love that even though they are twins that you have captured their individuality, which you can tell they may look alike but they each have their own style and taste. Very Nice>>>

STOP MAKING ME CRY AT WORK!!! That song by Sara Groves is so wonderful. Seriously, Emily, your work is incredible! You continue to capture your subject's essence in such a special way. I don't know how you do it! You have a gift!
